This Sunday my best betch and I went to brunch at Kittichai. Last weekend we tried to go for their steal of a brunch (prix fixe at $25), but accidentally made the reservation for the day before… Instead we tried out Toloache, which is less reasonable but just as delicious and fun. Kittichai is in SoHo at 60 Thompson Street, and is gorgeous inside and out.
We might have come for the decor, but we stayed for the drinks. Unlimited drinks make brunch my favorite meal of the day, and Kittichai doesn’t disappoint with unlimited booze included in the price. We sampled the Kittichai Bloody Marys, Lychee Bellinis and Mimosas for an hour and a half before clearing out much tipsier than when we arrived.
You definitely get the most bang for your buck with the mimosa – which is by far the strongest – but all three are incredibly delicious. When it comes time for food, Kittichai offers classic brunch fare with a thai twist. We both went for the Pad Thai with garlic chives, shrimp and peanuts. It was one of the best pad thais I’ve had in New York, and I’m not just saying that because I was a little drunk. It was fresh and spicy, all around a great dish.
Even if the food and drinks weren’t so terrific, the decor and price make the whole experience worth it. Such a high-quality brunch for $25 is unusual these days and the environment is perfect… Floating flowers surround your party and a small pond with floating candles and lilies centers the room.
